The Philippine Male Singers was formed when most members of the San Beda College Chorale, a school based choral group, graduated from college. While still with the San Beda College Chorale, the now members of The Philippine Male Singers won the Olympic Champion award in the Young Male Category of the Choir Olympics held in Busan, South Korea in 2002. They also received two gold medals in the 6th International Chortage held in Bad Ischl, Austria. The group also won the Grand Champion in the 2002 National Music Competitions for Young Artists, the most prestigious choral competition in the Philippines.
The Philippine Male Singers have since represented the Philippines and participated in numerous choral festivals locally and abroad. Moreover, it has given command performances to various dignitaries and Ambassadors in Europe as it has also given goodwill concerts to local and Filipino communities in all parts of Europe.
Although one of the group’s objectives is to promote Filipino songs in the male choral idiom, its repertoire consists of a wide gamut of styles, ranging from classical to avant-garde; international folk songs, popular songs, opera, jazz and original arrangements of famous songs.
The group boasts of eight international tours in a span of four years having performed in various cities in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Spain, France, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Korea, Taiwan and the United States.
The group is committed to continue building bridges and promoting Philippine choral music in the male choral idiom. The group is under the tutelage of noted choral conductor and arranger Robert Delgado, alumnus of the Philippine Madrigal Singers.
They are on the roster of artists of SinagTala Arts Management Philippines.
